# Linking assignments in Google Classroom

Hi everyone. I regularly post links to Flint assignments in Google Classroom, which works wonderfully to create a student’s session within the activity. However, most students need to work on it in multiple sessions.

Is there a way to allow students to directly access their previously created session through a link in Google Classroom? Or is the only way to access a previously created session by opening Flint and navigating to the session?

I’m just trying to streamline and make things as simple as possible for my middle school kids who think instructions are optional 🙂

Hi Andrea! Great Question. In our current state, a session cannot be edited and resubmitted but a new session can be created. Could you tell me a little more on the use case for why a student might need to go back into a previous session? I would love to learn more about this to see if this is something our engineering team should look into adjusting.

I create an activity in Flint, in the group that is set up as my classroom. To assign it to my students I copy the link for the activity and use that link in the Google Classroom assignment. If they don’t finish it in one sitting and have to work on the assignment the next day, it’s easiest for them to click the link in the Google Classroom assignment. However this creates a new session for them, rather than continuing with the session they started (but didn’t submit) the previous day.

Do you need more information?

Thanks for your input!

Hi Jacob! We’re currently facing the same issue. We’ve had students submitting sessions, e.g., essay planning, before they’re actually ready. If they need to go back to discuss it further, there is no other way than creating a new session or duplicating the actual one.

Hi Andrea and Itzel!

Thank you so much for the additional feedback. It seems like there could be a possibility to have a setting that would determine if the teacher would like to allow students the ability to re-enter a previous chat and continue the conversation. I am passing this along to our engineering team for something they can look into further.
