How long can a discussion be in Flint?

I watched a video about A.I. conversations and what happens when one conversation goes past 5 or six exchanges. Apparently different LLMs have degraded performance the more information it has to remember (as you progress through the conversation) up to and including the LLM forgetting what your original goals or questions were. One way to combat this is to have it summarize what was discussed, what conclusions were reached, and what questions still need to be answered, and then use that in another chat window to continue the conversation. I wondered if Flint has experienced this since it is built on Claude. (The response below leads me to believe we need to encourage users to summarize and restart conversations after several interactions. Perhaps Flint can address this in a future Campfire or email blast to users.)

Here was the Flint Help Chatbot response:

Great question! Flint has actually addressed this memory issue significantly. We increased our memory capacity by 10x in 2024 - our AI can now remember up to 96,000 words in a conversation.

However, you're right that chat lengths are finite. For long-term learning tracking, we recommend using recurring activities with checkpoints rather than trying to maintain one endless conversation. Each new session does start fresh, but our memory improvements mean you can have much longer meaningful conversations before hitting limits.

Your summarization strategy is smart - it's a good workaround for any AI system when conversations get really extensive.
