Setting student level, grade and course on the group!
I have a number of groups (classes) set up and I have created activities within each. A massive and annoying problem I’m facing is that once I’m in the group and I want to setup a new activity I have to prompt with grade level/course details of the students. Surely it makes more sense for this to be at group level, then every activity within the group already knows the group and target level.
This will make it very intuitive, I have feedback from many teachers about this and its making it difficult to use!
In the group settings there is a box on learning goals and background. Does that not help with what you need?
I have used that but I want to give more details such as a syllabus document, so there is minimal room for error in the activities.
Hi A Khan - Thank you for your question. As Santiago Camacho mentioned, the Learning Background and Goals under the Group Settings is the perfect spot for this. Unfortunately, at this time, we do not support the upload of a syllabus; however, we appreciate the feedback as it is something we have heard previously and are looking into.
That said, we do have an activity within Flint that has been built to help create the first draft of your learning background and goals by uploading your syllabus and providing background information about your class. The direct link to that activity can be found here.
Hey A Khan are you referring to the issue when a teacher is inside an existing group (class) and creates a new activity, they are required to repeatedly re-enter grade level and course details for each activity? This happens even though those details are already clearly defined at the group level?
Hi Kenneth, you say they are "clearly defined“ but I feel this is not the case. For example, I would like to add 11 topics each with about 10 learning outcomes. This cannot be done at group level, adding a document at this level would help.
The only way to make sure the AI is within the scope of the topic is to add them in each activity. I do not want to use one activity to cover an entire topic as its too big.
