Bio
Jon Bergmann, a Flipped Classroom pioneer and best-selling author of twelve books, sees AI as a game-changer for education—but with a warning. He cautions that without action—prioritizing human connection, critical thinking, and ethical grounding—AI risks turning students into passive, "stupefied" learners.
Jon’s journey spans urban, suburban, rural, and private schools, with 24 years as a Colorado classroom teacher before becoming a tech facilitator in Chicago’s suburbs. When "Flip Your Classroom" became a global bestseller, he spent eight years traveling, helping schools and universities swap passive lectures for active learning. In 2019, he returned to the classroom to refine Flipped and Mastery Learning, amplifying his voice among educators. Teachers now see him as a peer, grappling with today’s challenges—like balancing AI’s promise with its pitfalls—while sharing real stories from his full-time science gig and staff development role at Houston Christian High School.
His 11 books have been translated into 13 languages, and he was awarded the 2002 Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching and a 2010 Colorado Teacher of the Year semi-finalist spot.
