Parametric and polar curves AI study session
Have AI conduct a study session to answer student questions and help in visualizing different parametric and polar curves.
Teaching goals
Parametric and polar curves are common topics covered in pre-algebra courses, but can be challenging for students to understand and apply well.
With Flint, teachers can set up an AI study session to give students adaptive practice in problem solving, graphing, and visualization. In the example below, the teacher has entered a learning objective and has provided the AI with a few resources to pull from — two web pages with practice problems, along with two Khan Academy YouTube videos:
Extra customization
Flint automatically creates the underlying rules for the AI tutor to follow and ensures that the AI will give students help without explicitly giving away the answer.
However, let’s say the teacher wanted to set this AI tutor up to conduct a study session ahead of an upcoming test. To give students the most help possible, the teacher can set the helpfulness level to “full”.
Student experience
Because this AI tutor has been set up to give students as much help as they need, students can freely ask the AI to assist them with any problem.
Students can enter a math problem using the built-in equation editor, or by providing the AI with a picture of their work — either by uploading an image or taking a picture via their webcam.
Additionally, students can ask the AI for help in visualizing problems to further strengthen their understanding.
